Blog Awards

Caitlin of chaotic compendiums has bestowed upon me three blog awards, pictured above. Thanks Caitlin!

Now the Beautiful Blogger and Honest Scrap Awards require that I post 10 things about myself. So here goes:
  1. I collect antique shot glasses. Not the tacky ones with stupid pictures. I like the pretty ones that look like miniature glass mugs and wine glasses.
  2. My favorite healthy snack is a kale shake. It's not as gross as it sounds! You take two leaves of kale, a whole mango, a large chunk of pineapple, two cups of water, and some ice and blend them all together. The mixture should be a fluorescent toxic green color. Very healthy and very tasty.
  3. I work as a legal secretary in a general practice law firm. We get some very interesting cases. Family Court is a sad, sad place.
  4. I love coyotes!
  5. I am a Trekkie! Star Trek novels rule!
  6. I hate the Star Wars movies but enjoy the fan fiction.
  7. I have two elderly Lab mixes.
  8. I saw this painting in a coffeehouse that I really liked but it costs $1,500. I'm trying to figure out how to raise the money.
  9. I love coffee. I drink about four cups a day. It used to be eight but then I started getting these heart palpitations.
  10. If I could travel anywhere in the world, it would be Paris, Greece, and Southern Italy, particularly the Sorrento-Amalfi-Naples area.

I subscribe to the Daily Coyote too :) Love that site! If you ever need a travel partner to Italy - I'd go in a second. That is a place I am just drooling to visit. Thanks for sharing :)

Isn't Charlie darling? The Daily Coyote is actually what got me into coyotes. They're such incredible animals with such an unfair reputation.

Yes! Antique shot glasses - what a great collection!

I've never explored the world of either the Star Trek or Star Wars books. I am mildly curious. Where would you recommend starting? :)

Well, for Star Trek novels, I strongly recommend anything by Peter David. Q-Squared and Vendetta are my two favorites. (If you get confused, there's always Memory Alpha, the Star Trek wiki.) Also, Star Trek: First Contact is an absolutely excellent movie and one of my all-time favorites. Has a cyberpunk edge to it.

For some great Star Wars fan fiction, here is my Fanfiction.net profile, with all my favorite authors and stories (there's some Trek stuff there too). And here is theforce.net's fan fiction archive. These stories have to go through a jury process so they're guaranteed to be good.

The Daily Coyote is just love!

I was reading about someone's trip to Paris the other day and telling myself I can't believe I've never been. Hopefully soon (which is to say, when my finances allow :P).

Rhapsody: Really, they're GOOD! Try one!

Nymeth: If I can see Paris and get a pet coyote, I can die happy.

Have you read Barbara Kingsolver's Prodigal Summer? An enjoyable novel and coyotes are at the centre of it!
