Sunday Salon

The Sunday Salon.com

I have just been informed that I did not win anything from this month's Early Reviews batch on LibraryThing. And here I was thinking Agnès Humbert's Résistance was the beginning of wonderful free books that haven't been released yet! Grrrrr. Darn darn darn.

In other news: the 2666 readalong is over! Or, more specifically, 2666 is over but the group is moving on to Kristin Lavransdatter for the last three months of 2009. I met a lot of great bloggers through the shared 2666 experience and I'm very glad that we're going to be doing another book together. I love how not only did everyone have a different interpretation of a very multifacted novel but also how everyone had such different writing styles. I'm about 3/4 of the way through the first book of Kristin and already have some thoughts I can't wait to get written down.

For the last book of 2666 I actually did two posts (here and here). I meant for the second one to be an improvement over the first one, but I'm still not satisfied with it - it's not very organized. I think this is a problem with a lot of what I write. I like to discuss complex subjects, but I never make outlines or try to plan out my posts. I just write as I go. I did it in college too and always got good grades and I get great feedback on my blog, so I dunno. . . Doing drafts or pre-planning of some kind probably improve my writing but, at the same time, I'm lazy.

That's really all I have for this week. I'll continue with Kristin Lavransdatter and maybe start The Savage Detectives, and that's about it.

(In her comment on last week's Sunday Salon, Francis begged me not to post any more creepy photos from Lovelylisting.com: Odd Finds in Real Estate Listings. Well, I did use a picture with a ghost in it for Wordless Wednesday, but I promise I'll stop now! I will resist the decapitated Santa.)

I hope you're enjoying Kristin Lavransdatter. A couple of years ago, I read the first two books (loved them!), then took a break before the third. Of course, I waited too long and now will need to at least skim the first two before I can continue.
