Sunday Salon + Job/Moving Update

The Sunday Salon.com

Happy Sunday everyone! I just moved into my new apartment yesterday! In my last Salon/Update I mentioned that I was anticipating leaving behind an entire bookcase full of books. Turns out, I didn't have to. Hooray!

It's a studio plus a bathroom and small kitchen, all done in white except for the wood floor in the main room. For the kitchen I found a little dark blue table and blue chair and bought sunny yellow towels and a bright yellow clock. The rest of the apartment is blue and brown - blue patterned comforter (an early birthday present from my mother), brown sheets, blue and brown towels, brown bathmat, and brown furniture. My bedroom at my parents' house (where I lived for two years after graduating college) was pink and brown so I figured it was time for a change.

I LOVE this area. Not only is it the BEST part of town but I think the average age around here is about twenty-seven. There are tons of little restaurants and cafes and funky boutiques and, best of all, vintage architecture everywhere. The houses are especially cool - there's one actually painted black, which sounds really crazy but they somehow pulled it off. A lot great places to go running too and it's perfectly safe.

As for reading, I'm still in the middle of I Hotel. The Paradiso leg of Richard's Dante read-along is scheduled for September 3-5 and I haven't even started it yet. I know I already missed this month's Non-Structured Book Club selection, which sucks but I had too much going on. But I will be reading Santa Evita for September. And I also need to finish the Horrible Dare Challenge!

After that, I'll be able to get to all those books I bought back in July.

No weekly link round-up today. Didn't have the time with all the moving.

I love the sound of your place - the French-sounding blue and the sunny yellow and the street scene! I hope you continue to help us live in Whereeverville vicariously - it sounds fantastic!!!

Yay you!! Blue + yellow is a classic combo. I loved living in my studio, which sounds remarkably like yours - I was there for 6 years and enjoyed it immensely. Have fun exploring your new neighborhood!

Sorry for the Internet-silence, everyone. Yes, I am indeed very excited!
