Sunday Salon
Happy post-Halloween everyone! We had perfect Halloween weather yesterday. Not only was it unseasonably warm, it was also dark and cloudy (but not rainy), with the slate gray of the clouds as back drop for the black bare trees. Our area literally looked like this:
And this:
I found these on the Gothic Image Gallery. It's melodramatic as hell, but for some reason I just love the Gothic aesthetic.
I got my Kristin Lavransdatter post up yesterday, along with my Vampire Playlist. My very first Slaves of Golconda post was also done this week for Susan Hill's The Woman in Black. Over the next few days I'll be reviewing Alta Ifland's Elegy for a Fabulous World and Jorge Volpi's Season of Ash, and hopefully I'll get a third review post in, maybe for Thomas Nashe's The Unfortunate Traveller.
In the meantime, I will attempt to stop eating this candy.

Oh, stop eating the candy, you will make yourself sick! I'm working on my Kristin post. Once it is up I'll read everyone else's
Those are great spooky, gothic images. I wonder why we like them so much, do we need to get good and scared once in a while?
The day after Halloween, and I had a snickers for breakfast! I thought The Woman in Black was great - read it on a plane flight from London to New York last year.
I love Halloween, but for the second year in a row we didn't have any trick-or-treaters. I think it's because our apartment complex does an event for the kids on Halloween during the day with mask making and a parade. I hope it's not because people are afraid to take their kids trick-or-treating. Anyway, that means the candy is ALL MINE! Mua ha ha ha ... ahem ...
It was warm here, too, but sunny. Which is just wrong for Halloween.
Gavin: I just love Goth - Gothic literature, Gothic metal, Gothic fashion (though I personally don't have the nerve), and Gothic images. And I just don't know why.
JoAnn: I had MULTIPLE candy bars for breakfast!
Caitlin: Don't buy it! If you don't get trick-or-treaters you'll just eat it! And get cavities!
Softdrink: I'm sorry to hear that!
