Teaser Tuesdays

• Grab your current read.
• Let the book fall open to a random page.
• Share with us two "teaser" sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
• You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from. That way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
Please avoid spoilers!

An American Tragedy by Thomas Dreiser

Page 373 - "Oh, I like her some, sure. She's very pretty, and a dandy dancer."

A Fierce Discontent: The Rise and Fall of the Progressive Movement in America, 1870-1920 by Michael McGerr

Page 215 - The boundary lines of early twentieth-century America were a confession of frailty, an admission that the powerful could not create a harmonious, let alone homogeneous, nation anytime soon. Segregation was also a failure of imagination and nerve.

Who is Mark Twain? by Mark Twain, edited by Robert H. Hirst

Page 33 - I had that glimpse of Satan and his shadow, and the next moment he was by my side in the room. He did not embarrass me.

Those are all great teasers, but I think I like the Who is Mark Twain one the best!

"Conversations with Satan" is actually my favorite essay in the whole book! Problem is, Twain goes off on this pointless digression about cigars and then decides to just end the whole thing.

OK, I've discovered the flaw in the Kindle: it refuses to fall open at any random page...
