Richard: While ...Sorry for the delay in replying.

Richard: While I wouldn't call van Mersbergen a Hemingway imitator, the influence is definitely there. It's not really a culturally bound story either. It has a very international set of characters, but the themes are pretty universal - fight/flight/ love affair gone bad, road trip, male bonding, etc. So there's really no "Dutchman in Spain" angle; it's more, "guy fleeing his past arrives at a dangerous festival in another country." You might like it.

Amy: Thanks!Eileenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11058705381647529328noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5687975489922145220.post-88128757355492545962011-06-10T08:39:51.096-04:002011-06-10T08:39:51.096-04:00Great review, you say it all so well!Great review, you say it all so well!Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18102250492155489672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5687975489922145220.post-12184082391379448602011-06-09T22:36:19.140-04:002011-06-09T22:36:19.140-04:00Not sure a Hemingway imitator is what I'm look...Not sure a Hemingway imitator is what I'm looking for these days but a Dutch Hemingway imitator would at least be something new. Is there anything interesting going on from a Dutchmen in Spain angle or is it more about the story by that point?Richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01746599416342846897noreply@blogger.com
