If a woman could peak into an aroused man's mind, no doubt we would all be considered misogynists. Also, I believe the C-word was very different back then. It was profane, yes, but not the mean slur it is today. Miller surely used it because it was shocking and animalistic. Just listen to how the world sounds - brunt, bodily and nearly beastly.Jonathan Alparthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07916793817101311482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5687975489922145220.post-70581376628777422352014-06-02T04:52:58.123-04:002014-06-02T04:52:58.123-04:00Thanks for this. The whole glut of star wars novels and comics that exist today, would not be there if not for his "thrawn trilogy" which sold out everywhere and jump started intrest in novels and comics again back in 1991. Its arguable that the Prequels would not have been made if not for his books.

To a lesser extent, Michael A Stackpole has a Peter David style sense of humor and gift for witty banter, he just gets undone by his Gary Stu archetypes just being more awesome than anyone else. Though early in the book I have been pleasantly surprised by several aspects of Christine’s Di Pizans’s thinking. While some of her views on Feminism may be outdated I am struck by other modern ideas that she presents. One example is her admonition to read a book based on ones own interpretation and not necessarily the authors.

I will be sure to visit the Feminist Classics blog when I have completed this.Brian Josephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15139559400312336791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5687975489922145220.post-29796607917409549972012-04-14T20:49:58.480-04:002012-04-14T20:49:58.480-04:00Loved reading your fantastic review of the work. Anyway, I really enjoyed Doctor Faustus and found Zeitblom's narration intellectually appealing. That chapter featuring the debate with the devil figure, though? Whoa. Talk about hardcore!
