I tore through all his stuff when I was too young/inexperienced of a reader to appreciate his descriptive finesse, so all I got out of them was a bunch of drunk people. Whenever bloggers pull quotes from his books now, I think "How did I miss something that beautiful?"Emilyhttp://www.eveningallafternoon.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5687975489922145220.post-57140749435845647682011-01-04T19:03:27.114-05:002011-01-04T19:03:27.114-05:00I have mixed feelings about Tender is the Night. I really think I prefer Fitzgerald when he's describing things because the second part of that book - the backstory of Dick and Nicole's relationship - doesn't do anything for me, even though I know how autobiographical it was. But I loved the first part with its setting in the South of France.Eileenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11058705381647529328noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5687975489922145220.post-5239920425092308362011-01-03T20:52:19.003-05:002011-01-03T20:52:19.003-05:00Yes! This is an excellent story and I know I'll enjoy working my way through the collection. Also plan to reread Tender is the Night sometime this year. It's such a pleasure to read Fitzgerald's writing.JoAnnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13691864361197071517noreply@blogger.com
